Three Gorges dam reports win journalism award

Articles about the environmental and social consequences of China's Three Gorges dam project have won three journalism awards from the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA).

SOPA’s Scoop Award went to a story by Wall Street Journal reporter Shai Oster. The article exposed threats to local people associated with the Three Gorges dam’s construction, including water pollution and mudslides.

reporter Jiang Xun won the Local Journalist Award for a series of investigative reports about censorship. "Jiang has mined a treasure trove of first-hand materials and demonstrated real insight into the censorship issue on the mainland," SOPA said on its website.
