Earlier this month, Britain also relaxed planning restrictions on installations, which in the case of solar cells now run into several
thousands.
Japan, Germany and California currently lead the world in solar micro-power generation. The UK is said to be considering a
German-style subsidy regime, called a feed-in tariff, where utilities pay households a premium for any electricity they produce themselves
from renewable sources.
