Climate models from the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change did not include important data from ice dynamics in Greenland, a paper in the Journal of Glaciology said. If the data was factored in, the study’s lead author, Beata Csatho, was quoted as saying, the sea level rise estimated during this century could be twice as high as current predictions.
"Ice sheet models usually don’t include all the complexity of ice dynamics that can happen in nature," Science Daily quoted Csatho as saying.
The paper focuses on Jakobshavn Isbrae, Greenland’s fastest moving glacier and its largest.
