Climate change ‘not a priority for Indian firms’

Most firms in India do not measure emissions and are yet to plan for the impact of climate change on their businesses, Reuters reported a study as saying on Thursday.

However, the report by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) added that many Indian companies are aware of the commercial opportunities presented by global warming.

Only about a third of 110 companies polled responded to the survey that sought information on opportunities and risks from climate change, emission levels and strategies to cut pollution, among other issues.

"An enormous amount of work still needs to be done by Indian companies to catch up with their global peers," said Paul Simpson from the CDP.
