Multinationals blacklisted for China pollution

Global corporations such as Pepsi-Cola, Samsung, 3M and GM are among 100 multinational companies on an updated blacklist of China's worst water polluters, China Daily reported on Tuesday.

Chinese think-tank the Institute of Public & Environmental Affairs has compiled an updated list of water polluters, listing 33 offenders.

"Foreign brands well known to Chinese consumers" were on the list, the newspaper report said, including Kentucky Fried Chicken and Pizza Hut.

"The parent companies in their home countries are models for environmental protection. But some of them seem to have slackened
their efforts here," said Ma Jun, the institute director.
