China drought causes water shortages for millions

Widespread drought across China has left over 8 million people suffering from drinking water shortages, Xinhua reported on Friday.
Drought has also left over 7 million livestock short of drinking water, the report said, citing China’s State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters.
The hardest-hit areas are the northeast China provinces of Liaoning and Heilongjiang, and the northern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Domestic animals are reported as starving to death in Inner Mongolia due to a lack of grass.
