Largest flock of white-eared night heron found in eastern China

Researchers from Zhejiang University who discovered a large flock of endangered white-eared night heron near to Qiandao Lake in eastern China have successfully tracked their reproductive habits over a four year period.
During this time researchers have identified seven breeding couples in the group which, combined, have successfully reared thirteen offspring.

Numbers in the flock have now risen to at least 20 birds, making it the largest known group of white-eared night heron found to date. According to state media the flock accounts for 20% of the total population of the endangered bird.
